Atlanta Teen Shot, Killed in Halloween Egging Prank

Atlanta police are looking for a man who shot and killed a teenager whom he thought egged his car on Halloween night. The only problem — the victim may not have been responsible for the egging.

At around 8 p.m. Sunday, the man was driving through an intersection when someone threw an egg at his car. He kept driving, but a short time later, he returned — with a gun.

He opened fire, shooting 10 bullets. Tivarus Irving, 17, was hit several times and died on his way to the hospital.

Atlanta Police Major Keith Meadows said investigators don’t know if the victim was even responsible for the egging.

Choose Life

For many years, ice cream seemed to be a stronghold in my life. Unashamedly, I could easily empty a ½ gallon of my favorite flavor in one or two days. I never saw overeating as a vice. In fact, I would justify my consumption by feeling proud or even somewhat superior because I did not smoke or drink. I concluded that my penchant for savory satisfaction was not hurting anyone. 

Denial and justification can be two of the most misapplied defense mechanisms.

Flourishing in the Desert

Day care workers accused of drugging kids

CINCINNATI — Parents of an infant say she often seemed groggy after attending a church day care where some workers are accused of giving children an over-the-counter dietary supplement at nap time, their attorney said Wednesday.

Attorney Alan Statman represents the parents, Joseph and Andrea Coleman, in a lawsuit the suburban Cincinnati couple filed against Covenant Apostolic Church Inc. and unnamed day care workers at the church.
