Tony Bennett apologizes for 9/11 remarks

Tony Bennett backed off comments harging the U.S. was to blame for the terrorist attacks of September 11 he made Monday while appearing on the ‘Howard Stern Radio Show’.

The 85-year-old Bennett was on Stern’s Sirius Satellite Radio program to promote his new album ‘Duets II’. During the interview, Bennett told how his service in World War II turned him into a pacifist.

Bennett added that he was against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. ABC News reported when Stern offered that U.S. military involvement was the result of the actions of the terrorists, Bennett disagreed.

Survey reveals rise in unsafe sex

The proportion of young people admitting to having had unprotected sex with a new partner has risen over the past two years, according to a study.

The study of British 16 to 19-year-olds has shown 61% have had sex, with 43% of those who were sexually active admitting to having had sex with a new partner without using contraception, compared to 36% in 2009.

Of those who admitted having unprotected sex with a new partner, 23% said they had done so because their partner did not like using contraception, with 15% saying they had been drunk.

The proportion of girls who said they had a close friend or family member who had an unplanned pregnancy rose from 36% in 2009, to 55% this year.

‘Lion King’ chases off Brad Pitt to stay No. 1 at US box office

Walt Disney’s “The Lion King” reissue was No. 1 for the second-straight weekend with US$22.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. That puts it just ahead of Pitt’s baseball drama “Moneyball,” a Sony Pictures release that opened at No. 2 with US$20.6 million.

Debuting closely behind at No. 3 was the Warner Bros. family film “Dolphin Tale” with US$20.3 million. “Dolphin Tale” stars Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.

Sleep-Deprived Teens Take More Health Risks

It’s not uncommon for teens to stay up late — finishing school assignments, talking or emailing with friends, being involved in social activities, or working a job.

A study published in Preventive Medicine reveals that more than two-thirds of U.S. teens report they’re getting less than eight hours sleep on school nights, and researchers say that lack of sufficient sleep is associated with risky behaviors such as smoking, drinking alcohol, being sexually active, using marijuana, lower physical activity, and feeling sad or helpless.

“Insufficient sleep on school nights is common and is associated with participation in health risk behaviors including substance use, fighting, and consideration of suicide,” according to lead author Lela R. Read full article…
